Dante-Licious!

I’m head over heels in love with Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig’s newest resin sculpture, Dante. Every day that I focus on my commissions, and don’t cave in to my desire to paint him is a victory. When I do eventually paint him, he will be a sales piece.

Dante
I would really like to hear your thoughts on my color idea: black leopard appaloosa. Dante’s exquisite face reminds me of another piece by Sarah that I painted six years ago. While the appy pattern itself is a bit more fanciful than realistic, it is the pinking of the skin I enjoy the most about the below pictured medallion, and most look forward to applying to this sculpture.

Personal collection of the finishing artist.

Leopard appaloosa is one of my favorite colors to paint but I have done surprisingly few. This little horse, Op-Art, is a good example of how well the color works on the mini scale.

Please jot me a note, either personally or in the comments section of this blog to vote yea or nay to black leopard for Dante. Thank you!

  1. Do what inspires you and it will show. I think leopard app will be fun on him, just think of all the color variation you can do in the mane and tail!

  2. Glad to see you've started a blog, Karen! Beautiful Mini Optime! I don't have an opinion on the Dante either way, I'm sure he'll be beautiful no matter what you do.

  5. Hi Karen,

While I agree with Carol that anything you do on him will be beautiful, I personally would love to see a loud semi leopard or extended blanket bay!
