Inspiration: Michelle Stuart Gypsy Vanner Pendant

A special thrill comes with finding a piece of art that really resonates with you, and it becomes even sweeter when you find that you can afford it!  This was my experience with this exquisite Michelle Stuart pendant.

The black agate background measures just under two inches, from top to bottom, so this photo, used with the artist’s permission, shows the piece much larger than life.  

I too work small, so that I understand, but I marvel over the level of expression achieved in this teeny, tiny original piece, that was painted from scratch on the flat (rather than on a sculpted horse body)!  The colors in the piece also intrigue me.  This exact pallet would not come across the same on a 3-D sculpture, but thinking of ways to incorporate such colors (especially those glorious blues!) has been fueling my imagination.
