Model Horse Art Classes - Full Details! July 10 - August 20, 2013

SUMMER MODEL HORSE ART CLASSES with KAREN BEESON!

July 10 - August 20, 2013

Thanks to a surprise opportunity, I will be doing what I most love, and offering MODEL HORSE ART classes at my home in St. Charles, IL for the next six weeks, from July 10 - August 20!

My finishwork and Arabian tack have received countless NAN Top Ten Awards and Championships.

Join me for some classes to fast track your own work to a higher level!!   Please check out my blog post at http://karenbeeson.blogspot.com/2013/07/congrats-to-my-art-student-lisa-clarizio.html  to see what my students can do!

NEW! This set of classes will differ from previous
sessions in two important ways...

...classes will be tailored to ONE participant (rather than a group...), so you will be able to schedule the class that YOU want when YOU want it!  (But if you want to come with a friend, multiple participants will be welcome!)

...OPEN SCHEDULING is available, so you can schedule your class on a weekend, weekday, or in the evenings! You choose the time and date that fits you best!

Available Classes and Additional Details

CLASS DURATION:  How long would you like to work with me? Come by for a two hour class (minimum), a stretch of several hours in one day, a few separate meetings over the six week period, or choose to book a solid weekend of my time for your projects.

SUBJECT MATTER:  What do YOU want to learn? You choose the subject-matter. Classes can be of a formal instructional style, in which I will plan the lesson for you,  or of a looser consultation style, allowing you to bring your works in progress and discuss and implement improvements and enhancements.   Request your own class and subject, or choose from the following ideas:

  • Prepping Models (try all of the common tools and materials, as you start to prep one or more horses for you to later paint! 2+ hours)
  • Panting a Horse from Start to Finish (you choose the color and medium)
  • Painting a Leopard Appaloosa From Start to Finish (8+ hours required)
  • Appaloosa Pattern Basics (no painting, but deep discussion/lecture) of what is right and what is wrong as you begin your appy painting journey - 2 hours or more)
  • Applying Pinto Patterns and White Markings
  • Painting Hooves
  • Painting Eyes
  • Working in Oils
  • Working in Acrylics
  • Working in Pastels
  • Using mixed media - what to use where and why (2+ hours or more, depending on if you wish to just sit back and discuss the topic, or try out the techniques on a model)
  • Improving your Previous Work (Discuss and Implement improvements!)
  • Mix and Match the Above, or create your own class!

or choose to make some tack...

  • Make a Syrian Style Native Arabian Halter & Lead Rope Set (6+ hours required)

I have taught and/or planned the curricula for all of the above classes, so feel free to e-mail me for further details about the above classes.  Detailed class descriptions are available for some.  Don’t forget that I’m also pleased to work in multiple topics or additional subjects not listed, based on your needs.

General Scheduling and Registration Information

PRICING: $15 per hour per participant.

Dates and Times:  All classes will take place between July 9 and August 20, 2013. The availability of classes after this date into the fall, or in the future, is unknown at this time. As of this writing, my schedule is wide open during this period. Classes can begin as early as 8 am and run until 9 pm. For classes of five hours or longer, I do ask that participants leave the premises to take a 1 hour lunch or dinner break, to allow me to clean up from the earlier hours and prepare for the remainder of the class.

Subject Matter: Prior to registration, please e-mail me to discuss the subject matter that you would like to cover, including the class length that you would prefer. Remember, the only limits to the topics we can cover are your imagination and the techniques that I use or have used in my work! After you send this information, I will be glad to confer with you about what the class syllabus may look like, and how much time we will be able to dedicate to each topic you wish to cover. Please remember that a class covering multiple topics (such as four hours, discussing hooves, eyes, and white markings) will not permit us to delve as deeply and spend as much time discussing and practicing each one.

Required Supplies:

Prepping classes will require at least one (ideally a few) Breyer, Stone, or resin models to work on.

Most painting classes will require at least one fully prepped classic size adult (ideal, but please inquire if you wish to work on a different size or a foal) model to work on. I can send detailed prepping instructions if prepping is new to you. Alternatively, I can prep a Breyer classic model for you to use for a reasonable cost. You can have the model shipped to me, allowing at least one week for me to do the prep work, or I can pull one from my body box (however there will be no choice of which model comes from my body box - sorry!).

Painting classes will also requires a small list of supplies, most of which will be a small number of brushes (chosen for both quality as well as reasonable prices that won’t break your bank!).  All supplies will be available at your local art or craft supply store such as Michaels, JoAnn, or Hobby Lobby.

Arabian Tack Making Class will require a small list of inexpensive supplies which can be found at any craft or sewing store.
